How to Draw Sonic the Hedgehog

by | Jul 1, 2024 | 0 comments

Welcome to my drawing club! In today’s class, we’re going to be drawing Sonic the Hedgehog.

Step 1: Draw the Brow and Eyes

Begin on the left side by curving down in the middle and then back up on the right side. Now, back on the left, curve up and round out the eyelid, then down. Repeat the same for the right side, curving up and rounding out the eyelid, then pulling it down. Move back to the center and draw a small circle for the nose, filling it in with black.

Step 2: Draw the Eyes

Draw the outside of the eyes starting from the top, curving out, rounding out, and coming in towards the nose. Flatten this out near the nose and curve it back in behind the nose. Repeat on the right side, curving out and down, rounding out the eye, and pulling it up underneath the eyelid. Tuck the iris underneath the eyelid by drawing an oval that starts at the top, goes around to the bottom, and back up towards the top. Do the same on the right side. Add a small circle for the highlight on the left side of each iris, and draw a smaller oval in the center for the pupil, filling it in with black.

Step 3: Draw the Face

From the side of the eye, curve out the cheeks and come down towards the chin. Start on the left, curving up, rounding out the cheek, coming down in the middle, going up on the right side, and curling back in. Add the mouth on the side with a small bracket. From the center of the bracket, curve down and across towards the right.

Step 4: Draw the Head and Spikes

For the top of the cheeks, curve out and up on each side. Add two curved spikes on each side of the head, starting from the top of the cheek, curving up, and then bending down. Taper these spikes up and in towards the side of the head. Draw lower spikes from the bottom, curving out and then down, and taper them back up and in behind the head.

Step 5: Draw the Ears

From the top, overlap the ears by stepping in, curving out and up towards the tip of the ear, and repeating on the right. Curve in and bend the ears down. Draw the center spike from inside the ear, stepping out, curving up, and bending it down. Curve all the way up to the top and then in behind the right ear. Draw the inside of the ears by tracing the outer shape.

Step 6: Draw the Body

Move down to draw the sides of the body. Start on the left side, curve out and then back in towards the hip. Repeat on the right side. Between the hips, step in and draw a curve from left to right. Leave a gap in the center, then draw down towards the ankles on both sides. Round out the bottom of the legs, curving down and up on the left and right. From the hips, draw the side of the leg out and then down. Add a large oval in the center of the body, just under the head.

Step 7: Draw the Shoes

Roll the socks around the ankles by stepping up from the bottom corners and drawing brackets. Draw the bottom of the socks from the left, around to the middle, and then back in. Draw the heel of the shoe curving in and then down. Round out the bottom of the feet from the heel to the toe, and curve the top of the foot back in behind the sock. Thicken the sole by duplicating the curve above. Add a trim on top of the shoe, following the same curve.

Step 8: Draw the Arms

From the top of the body, step down and curve out and down towards the wrist. Repeat on the right side. Round out the cuff of the gloves and follow the same curve up behind the head. Roll the cuff just like the socks, drawing brackets on both sides. Draw the hands underneath the cuffs by drawing half circles for the thumbs and adding brackets. Add three fingers at the bottom of the thumb, curving down and up around the brackets.

Step 9: Draw the Tail

Add the tail on the left side by starting from the hip, curving down, and then up, tapering back in behind the leg.

And that’s it! There you have it, Sonic the Hedgehog. I hope you enjoyed today’s lesson. Make sure you subscribe and send me your requests in the comments below. Thanks for watching and we’ll see you again soon!
