Welcome to my drawing club! In today’s class, I’ll show you how to draw and color Blue from Rainbow Friends.

Step 1: Draw the Eyes

Start with the left eye by drawing a large circle, going from the top, down to the bottom, and back up to the top. Leave a small gap in between the eyes and draw the same-sized circle on the right. Ensure that both circles are aligned. Inside the left eye, draw a smaller circle, leaving a gap on the top left. From this gap, draw a notch by coming straight in and up at an angle, then fill in the inside of the eye. Switch to a thinner marker and trace the inside of the right eye. Inside the right eye, draw an ‘X’. Start with an angled line across, then another angled line in the opposite direction, rounding out the ends and filling in the center.

Step 2: Draw the Mouth and Details

Move down and draw the top edge of the mouth. Start underneath the left eye, curve down towards the middle, and then bend back up. For the bottom of the mouth, start from the left, curve down, and pull it in towards the middle. Draw the top edge of the drool by curving up and out, bending back up, and down towards the right side of the mouth. Add drips by curving down, across, and back up. For the tongue, start from the left, curve up towards the middle, and then bend down. Step back up and draw another curve up and down behind the drool. Fill in the inside of the mouth along the top.

Step 3: Draw the Crown

Above the head, line up with the outside edge of the left eye and draw the crown. Start with a point and curve the crown across, bending up toward the top of the head. Flatten off the sides with straight lines, then pull down and in to form the points. Add a thick edge along the top by following the lines in towards the center point. Add two more points inside the gaps by drawing upside-down V shapes.

Step 4: Draw the Head and Body

From the bottom corner of the head, curve around the eye and mouth, bending in towards the chin, leaving a gap. From the top point, curve around the right side, down, and in towards the chin. For the left arm, start underneath the head, curve the arm out, and pull it in towards the hand. Round out the hand and bend the arm back up towards the armpit. Draw the right arm raised up by curving out and up along the side of the head, rounding out the hand, and pulling the arm back in towards the body.

Step 5: Draw the Legs and Feet

Rotate the body slightly towards the right. Start from the left, curve the body out, and round the hip, pulling it back in. Repeat on the right side. Round out the bottom of the feet, starting from the left, and curve down and up. Close out the bottom of the body with a curve, then tuck the left leg up underneath the body with a curve. Round out the inside of the right leg and curve it up underneath the body.

Step 6: Color the Drawing

Start by filling in the front of the crown with bright yellow. Use brown to fill in the trim and the back side of the crown. Add highlights across the top edge of the body with light blue, tapering down towards the side of the head, arms, and body. Use dark blue to fill in the rest of the head and body, working around the eyes and highlights. Add color and hue to the bottom of the drool with light blue and fill the inside of the tongue with red. Use dark blue to add shadows to the left side of the head and body. Add a light gray shadow across the right eye and the left side of the crown.

Finish by signing your artwork.
