How To Draw The Mandalorian | Cartooning Club Tutorial

by | Jul 1, 2024 | 0 comments

I’m going to show you how to draw The Mandalorian from Star Wars. So, grab a piece of paper and something to draw with, and let’s get started!

Step 1: Drawing the Head and Visor

Start by drawing a straight line across the top of the head from left to right. From the left side of the line, draw a large half-circle that rounds up and then comes down on the right side to form the top of the head. Draw straight lines coming down from both sides to form the sides of the head. To create the inside edge of the visor, step down from the top and draw a straight line across, leaving a gap on the left side. Draw short lines coming down from each end and then angle these lines in towards the center, leaving a large gap. The inside edge of the visor should slightly angle down and in from the outer points. Connect the outside of the helmet by curving down and in towards the inside of the visor.

Step 2: Detailing the Visor and Helmet

From the top of the helmet, step down and draw a straight line across to close off the visor. Fill the inside of the visor with black. For the bevels on the mask, step down from the top of the helmet and curve in and down on both sides. Draw short angled lines from the top of the bevels, then angle out and down towards the outer corners of the helmet. From the inner bevel points, taper lines in towards the center of the bevels. To add the strip on top of the head, step over to the left and draw a straight line down, repeating on the right. Trace the lines on the inside, leaving a gap at the bottom, and close off with a straight line. Extend this line out along the side of the head and come straight down, aligning with the bottom corner of the visor, then pull it in towards the side of the helmet.

Step 3: Drawing the Body and Armor

Draw the sides of the body by curving out and down towards the hips on both sides. Close off the bottom of the hips with a curved line. For the bandolier, start from the top and curve down towards the left hip, then draw the same curve twice. In the center, draw four angled lines from the top to bottom. Add the buckle at the top with angled lines. Draw the belt underneath the bandolier, curving across the hips, and add a buckle and two circles on the right side. Draw a straight line across the top of the body, behind the bandolier, and add the cape by curving down and in on both sides. Draw another curve starting from halfway down, going out and up behind the head, and a straight line across in the center.

Step 4: Adding the Legs

Step down in the center and draw a curve going up and then down, leaving a gap in the middle. From the left, curve out and down towards the heel, and repeat on the right. Round out the bottom of the feet by curving down and up towards the toes. Draw the top of the feet by curving up and down towards the heel, leaving a gap. From the hips, curve out, round the legs, and pull them in towards the top of the feet. Add the boot cuffs by stepping up and drawing curves on both sides, repeating to create a trim. Add a flap on each hip and in the center.

Step 5: Drawing the Arms

Start halfway down the body and curve out and down towards the wrist on both sides. Draw the thumbs as half circles curving in and out, connecting to the wrist with a curved line. Add three fingers on each hand by stepping down from the thumb and drawing curves that round up towards the wrist. Separate the fingers of the gloves by drawing lines down and up towards the first finger. Add the wristbands by curving up and down on both sides, and add two angled lines across the forearm.

Step 6: Final Touches with the Cape and Details

Add the cape by curving down and out from the center fingers, connecting the ends with a curve going up in the middle and down on the sides. Add tassels along the bottom of the cape by drawing straight lines down and leaving gaps, continuing the pattern across. Ensure to align the curves and angles for a symmetrical finish. Finally, detail the padding on the thighs and the bottom edge of the vest above the belt. Fill in any necessary shading and add small details to enhance the drawing.

There you have it, your drawing of The Mandalorian is complete. I hope you enjoyed this lesson. Make sure to subscribe and send your requests in the comments below.
