What’s up everyone and welcome to the club! In today’s drawing class, I’ll be showing you step-by-step how to draw Kobe Bryant.
Step 1: Draw the Eyes
Start on the left side by drawing a curve going up and then down for the lower eyelid. Leave a gap in the center and draw the same curve on the right side. Next, draw the eyes tucked in behind the lower eyelids. For the left eye, step in and draw a circle coming around to the top, down, and then back in. Repeat the same for the right eye. Add a small highlight circle on the top left of each eye, then fill the eyes in black.
Step 2: Draw the Eyebrows and Nose
Above the left eye, draw the eyebrow by curving up and then in. Repeat for the right eye, making sure to line them up. Add thickness to the eyebrows by going up higher in the middle and tapering out towards the ends, then fill them in black. Move to the center and draw the tip of the nose by curving down and back up. Step up and draw a short curve across the bridge of the nose.
Step 3: Draw the Mouth and Face
Draw the top edge of the mouth by curving down and back up. For the bottom of the mouth, curve down and back up again. Add short curves on the sides for the teeth, then cross the teeth with a straight line down the middle. Fill the outside corners of the mouth in black. Draw a short curve for the lower lip. Draw the lower half of the head by stepping out in line with the bottom edge of the eyelid, curving down towards the chin, and back up towards the other side. For the top of the head, curve up, round it out, and then down towards the right side.
Step 4: Draw the Ears and Beard
Draw the ears starting from the top of the cheek, curving up, rounding off, and pulling in towards the side of the head. Repeat on the right side. Add a short curve at the top of each cheek. For the beard, step down from the top of the nose, curve out around the corner of the mouth, and down. Repeat on the right side, then curve up and out towards the top of the cheek.
Step 5: Draw the Body and Jersey
Underneath the head, draw the sides of the body by curving out and down towards the hip. Connect the hips with a curve going down and back up. In the center of the body, draw the collar by starting with a point and angling out towards the left and right. Draw the number 24 on the jersey by starting with a two, adding lines for the edges, and tracing the inside. For the four, draw angled lines and close off the top and bottom.
Step 6: Draw the Legs and Feet
Step down from the center of the body and draw a curve for the lower torso. Leave a small gap in the center, then draw the legs curving out and down towards the heels. Round out the bottom of the feet by curving down and up on both sides. Draw the top of the feet by curving up and down towards the heel, leaving a gap inside. Add a thick sole along the bottom of the feet by tracing the curve above. Add curves for the socks and trim on the shorts.
Step 7: Draw the Arms
Start halfway down the side of the body and draw the left arm curving out and down towards the wrist. Draw a small half-circle for the thumb and close off the end with a bracket. Add three fingers starting from the bottom of the thumb, curving down and up around the bracket. Bend the arm back up and in towards the head. Add an armband by curving up and out, then another curve for the trim.
For the right arm, draw it holding a basketball. Start with a circle for the ball, add lines for the seams, and draw the thumb and fingers wrapped around the ball. Draw the top of the arm going in behind the ball, and the bottom of the arm curving down and up behind the body.
Final Touches
Add any final details such as the jersey trim and additional markings. Finish by signing your artwork and adding a splash of color.
